Angels and Demons
4-7-09

These angels with their faces grim
sneer and play their harps for him
as if he stood on some ground high
his halo made from sunlit sky.
But do we on the ground not yurn
for heaven's grace and glory earned.
Do we mortals never seek
a solis of eturnity?
Sing ye maidens soft and fair
with sea breeze eyes and golden hair
and skin so pale as snow's first kiss
and hemlock smeared on ruby lips.
Lambs so pure and sweet and chased
we offer him in blindest faith.
Our hearts we give with open hands
and our souls we lend to his demands.
This is the lie we all must live
and love until our days are done.
This is the pain we all endure
to trail that hollow great alure.
I mock thee with my grinning face
and toss my hair and turn away.
I'm not the maiden his eyes would seek
or the little lamb with cotton fleece.
My body burns with anger deep
and passion fearce when angels weep.
My joy resounds in laughter low
and I follow where the wicked go.

I really like this poem. The flow and rhythm of it are great, and the rhyme scheme is catchy.

Nice job! Even though I am a Christian, I still love it! Excellent piece of work!
